When the body is dehydrated, or often called dehydration. Dehydration is a lack of total body fluid, a loss of more water than sodium (hypertonic dehydration), or loss of water and sodium in an equal amount (isotonic dehydration), or loss of more sodium than water (hypertonic dehydration) isotonic dehydration characterized by high serum sodium levels (more than 145 mmol / Liter) and effective serum osmolality increased (more than 285 mosmol / Liter). Isotonic dehydration signed a normal serum sodium levels (135-14) mmol / Liter) and effective serum osmolality (270-285 mOsmol / Liter). Hypertonic dehydration singed by low serum sodium levels (less than 135 mmol / liter) and effective serum osmolality (less dari270 mosmol / Liter).

Actually what happened was not only the loss of body fluids, but also electrolytes contained it liquid. In fact, electrolytes play an important role to maintain fluid balance and cell activity. 2/3 waters in our cells body (intracellular). In these cells the body’s metabolic functions take place. 1/3 of the amount of water in the body outside the cell (extracellular), including the brain fluid, eye fluid, nasal fluid, and fluids in the gastrointestinal tract.

When the water content in each organ is maintained as required, these organs would remain healthy. Conversely, when decreased, the function will also decrease, and more easily exposed to bacteria and viruses. It can get body fluids from a variety of foods or drinks, but plain water is more advisable because it rapidly absorbed the body.

The human body actually has mechanisms in maintaining the balance of water intake in and out. Thirst is the natural mechanism. Thirst is a body signal fluid deficit and body feel thirsty more than felt in the tongue. Better to drink water before you feel thirsty for water balance maintained. Besides thirst, sign of other dehydration is a little urine and concentrate, the amount of sweat a little, dry mouth, body weakness, increased body temperature, dizziness, rapid pulse, and a sense of weakness.

As long as we sleep, we lose the water in the same amount as much as the normal activities of daily. Likewise, in cold weather, our bodies need water in the same amount of time in the hot weather. Therefore, drink 2 liters of water per day in any weather.
