Foods with high antioxidant content are already believed to reduce the risk of cancer and heart disease. But, do not always claim identically antioxidants with blueberries and red wine alone. Therefore, now there are other 4 super antioxidant foods that we rarely make choice of them.
1. Whole wheat pasta
Choose pasta with whole wheat as a primary ingredient. Why? Because whole wheat pasta version proved to have antioxidant levels 3 times higher compared with enriched pasta or refined type.
Consumption of whole wheat can lower the risk of heart disease. Maybe at first we thought fibrous that only sweep cholesterol, but polyphenols in whole wheat more positive impact on blood pressure and our heart health. Concentration of antioxidants in whole wheat flour used to make pasta comparable to those found in fruits and vegetables.
2. Eggs.
Although eggs have a concentration of lutein antioxidants (eye protection from macula degeneration and cataracts) are much lower than spinach. However, the content of lutein in egg yolks more easily absorbed than those in spinach. Perhaps because the fat in egg yolks can help our bodies process the better antioxidant.
Although in one egg was found only around 5% levels of lutein or equal to 7.5 grams of spinach, but the egg can absorb 3 times more effective. Spinach and other green leafy vegetables are still the best source, but the egg is the easiest way to get more lutein.
3. Yogurt
Are you yogurt lovers? If so, be happy. Because, simply by eating a cup of plain low-fat yogurt, we are able to get 25% of our daily requirement of riboflavin or equal to 30 grams of boiled spinach. Although, riboflavin is not including antioxidant, this vitamin B is an important substance in supporting antioxidant activity.
Without riboflavin, glutathione antioxidants which are already present in our cells, would not be able to destroy the free radicals thus increasing the risk of heart disease, cancer and other chronic diseases.
4. Canola oil.
Canola, as heart health oil that rich in alphatocopherol antioxidants content. Alphatocopherol is one of 8 antioxidants in vitamin E in which able to keep the fat in LDL cholesterol or bad cholesterol from oxidizing and forming to free radicals, and can potentially be a trigger of cardiovascular disease and other chronic diseases.
